Like a Sore Thumb

In the business world, you can only replicate what you do for so long.  Sooner or later, people will get tired of the same old thing day after day.  It was Steve Jobs who once said “You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.”  Therefore, it’s up to you to make sure that your start-up can run with the big dogs.  According to an article from Inc.com, if you have a new idea, there’s a good chance it’s been done before, but you don’t know that for sure, so don’t hang up your cleats or ride into the sunset just yet.  You never know until you try.

Likewise, you must do everything in your power to make your company stand out like a sore thumb (not because you’re in pain, but because you’re out of the ordinary).  If you think you’ve got something that can generate business and make (and keep) customers happy, don’t bottle it up- unleash it!  Get the word out there that you’ve got something, new, fresh, different, unique, and you’re bound to fall on some unsuspecting customers who’d be more than happy to give you even 5 minutes of their time.
