Top of the line computer may not be at the top of the list

New technology is a wonderful thing.  There is always a new gadget or doodad which could further blend your life with electronics.  That does not mean that it is easy to keep up with the trends.  Newer, faster computers come out every month and companies are desperate to make you want their new product.  They tell you that your one or two year old computer is already obsolete and if you do not take the time to upgrade, you are costing your business money.

This is not a feasible model for small business. Sometimes the computer that you are using may be a few years old and passed through several pairs of hands till it arrived in front of you.  That does not mean that you need to immediately go out and replace it.  For your basic programs and working online, you do not need a supercomputer to get what you need done.  What you may need to do is take the time to make sure that your computer is working at its peak performance so it can keep up with what you do need it to do.

An article from Inc.com talks about making an old computer run better.  Routine maintenance for computers works just like cars.  You maintain it now so there is less chance of it breaking later.  You may not be out on the road when you are sitting at your desk using your computer, but the last thing you want is to have to suddenly replace it.
