Social Media Promotion and the Law

As a small business using social media, contests and promotions are a great way to attract new customers, brand your product, and increase traffic on your website.

However, before you can dive right in and create a contest, there are some legal aspects that you should keep in mind. While intentions for a contest or sweepstakes are usually well-intending, it is important to be mindful of the law and any legalities associated with the contest.

Did you know if the prizes value more than $600 dollars, you need to send a form 1099 to the winner for tax reasons. Did you know the official rules must always include "No Purchase Necessary"?
